Pat McGrath and John Galliano are revitalizing runway beauty.

Maison Margiela’s Spring 2024 Couture presentation was memorable to say the least, but success extends beyond the designer alone. The couture collection for Maison Margiela in Paris owed much of its allure to Pat McGrath's expertise.

She played a pivotal role, creating makeup looks evocative of porcelain dolls with luminous glass skin and daring eyeshadow adorning their lids. The models at Maison Margiela’s Couture SS24 show in Paris breathed life into a long-forgotten aesthetic, reminiscent of the runways of John Galliano’s Dior, where McGrath also left the mark.

Did you know that in the early 2000s, John Galliano and Pat McGrath formed an unbeatable duo in the realm of luxury fashion. Galliano Creative Director at LVMH’s Christian Dior at the time, and McGrath onboard to oversee beauty at nearly every Couture show he presented, their collaboration dominated the industry, and rightfully so. Some of the iconic looks were created by the duo. Both artists are committed to their craft and consistently astound, leaving an indelible mark on the enchanting realm of fashion.

-fashionably yours, Giulia

Why It Is Important to Shop Less and Shop Quality

We have all heard the saying "quality over quantity." Which would you choose when it comes to shopping? It seems Gen Z, Gen Alpha and Beta are all about sustainability, clean planet and reducing the waste.

Shopping quality falls into the category of waste reduction, because we shop less but buy more durable, good fabric product. Products last longer and more likely to resell. It's important to buy fewer, high-quality items than it is to buy a lot of low end items. Not only will you save money in the long run, but you'll also be happier with your purchases.

Saves money in the long run

Buying fewer but better-quality items can save you money in the long run. Not only will these things last longer, but shopping less frequently means there is less opportunity for impulse purchases and other mistakes (such as buying something that doesn't fit). If you're looking to save some cash, consider shopping less but shopping quality instead of quantity.

Reduce waste

Reducing carbon footprint is important for the future of our planet. Shopping for higher-quality items means they last longer and are more likely to be recycled or resold when no longer needed, which reduces waste in landfills. You'll also reduce your carbon footprint by shopping less often - each time you make a purchase, energy is used from the manufacturing process and transportation of goods to get them into stores.

You'll be happier with your purchases

When we buy something new, it's exciting. But that excitement can fade quickly if the item doesn't last long or doesn't fit our needs. By buying fewer, higher-quality items, we're more likely to be happy with our purchases and use them for a longer period of time.

Consider these reasons when making your next purchase.

The key takeaways from the Balenciaga fall 2022 collection

The '90s are the decade in which I realized I loved fashion," Demna told Vogue. Demna's goal is to bring the golden age of the 1990s back to life so he approached this collection in the style of a fashion documentary. With a series of polaroid shots Demna wanted to bring the golden age of the 1990's back. At that time Demna lived in Soviet-era Georgia. Deconstruction, minimalism and anti-fashion was something he was aiming for back in childhood and what remains today.

And Just Like That Peloton Stock Drops

Carrie Bradshaw funeral outfit

Devastating, unecessary, brutal, mad are just some of the words fans describe the much anticipated And Just Like That series released on HBO Max.
Fans all over the wolrd were looking forward to a show that lifted the spirits as did the original Sex and the City series. What started out super cringy with producers trying to fit in as many social issues into one episode as possible, ended traumatic, leaving fans emotionally broken down. Big & Carrie are so important to fans — to rip that away in such a devastating fashion was cruel. Besides bad acting and horrible plots, peloton sales droped drastically after one of the main characters of “And Just Like That...”, Mr. Big, died after a 45-minute Peloton class.

According to CNBC Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum, a cardiologist and member of the Peloton's health and wellness advisory council, said she was saddened by the news of Mr. Big’s heart attack. Yet she chalked it up to his unhealthy habits. “Mr. Big lived what many would call an extravagant lifestyle — including cocktails, cigars, and big steaks — and was at serious risk as he had a previous cardiac event in Season 6,” she said in a statement. These lifestyle choices and perhaps even his family history, which often is a significant factor, were the likely cause of his death. Riding his Peloton Bike may have even helped delay his cardiac event.”

The world wanted to see hope and happy, to be inspired and instead we were reminded of how delicate our lives are once again, as if we don't see that daily in News. All we are saying is, where is the support group?

TBILISI TOP DESIGNER NAMES TO INVEST IN

In a highly competitive market, it has somehow become a requisite for capital cities to have their own fashion week like those in NY, Russia, Hong Kong and Berlin as a visual demonstration of wealth and taste. In the last three years, Tbilisi became a new hot-spot for buyers and opinion makers looking for authenticity, avant-gardism and exoticism. Georgian fashion scene has gone through an unprecedented development. How ? Just take a look at the talent .

ALEKSANDRE AKHALKATSISHVILI

Aleksandre Akhalkatsishvili is leading the vanguard of Tbilisi talents bringing fashion clout (and a global audience) to the city. He’s known for strict lines and conservative silhouettes, cooled-up with draping, strong colors, and a boyish spirit—and Spring delivers just that in his signature faux eco-leather. Find it in an array of suiting, with an edge—think: cropped blazers that tie at the waist, dramatic slits, and V-shaped waistlines—alongside his sophisticated draping, updated with asymmetry.
The buys: any of the faux leather trousers (they have the perfect slouch), and the side-tie wrap dress in burnt orange cupro (a silky fabric made from reclaimed cotton linter).

LADO BOKUCHAVA

A beacon of emerging talent, Tbilisi is home to some of the most exciting names in the industry—and chief among them is Lado Bokuchava. The Georgian (who’s also at the helm of Matériel, another coveted Tbilisi label) puts a fresh, effortlessly-cool spin on the classic going-out wardrobe with his directional eye. Here, find his signature irresistible color combinations and unexpected texture with scarf details (the blazer in powder blue and mint green is divine), ruching at the side seams, beautiful drapery, and detachable glove-sleeves on corseted maxis. The buys: the scarf bra—a fluttery, open-back halter—and the sand pink strapless dress with a detachable scarf.

MATÉRIEL

Dubbed “Georgia's most famous label”, Matériel is a destination for the cool tailoring and leather currently pouring out of the region. The label is currently helmed by two buzzy young talents, Aleksandre Akhalkatsishvili and Lado Bokuchava. Their combined aesthetic marries a restrained androgyny with a youthful flair for rich color and sensual ruching. We love the new cutout midi dresses—they’re versatile, standout, and chic.

MACH & MACH

With 141k followers, Mach & Mach, helmed by sister duo Nina and Gvantsa Macharashvili, is Tbilisi’s most famous Instagram brand—and with good reason: the label’s specialty includes sparkle and shine-heavy pieces ideal for parties and other such Insta-worthy occasions. The news for Spring? Reinventions of their bestsellers (see: blazer dresses and silks adorned with diamante details) alongside an introduction of faux leather and a standout '90s-style skinny strap column dress.

GEORGE KEBURIA

Tbilisi-based talent George Keburia has already won over the It set with his offbeat-cool aesthetic—much like the futuristic, wavy-shaped sunglasses that launched his career, his line of geometric, sharp-lined, playful ready-to-wear has earned approval from the A-list (spotted most recently on Kaia Gerber). Spring delivers a range of blazers that bear the traces of his now-signature '80s-cool quirk. We love the longer-line styles: pair with a matching skirt (complete with asymmetric hemlines or draped details), or try wearing it alone for a going-out look with a bit of edge.

Levi's and Hello Kitty Collab

The famous kitty cat is celebrating its 45th anniversary and in doing so, collaborating with Levi's.

The colorful collection will include T-shirts, jackets, hoodies, and jeans. One of the most anticipated pieces from the collection is baggy Levi's jeans with a Hello Kitty graphic, an XXL "Papa" trucker jacket with stitched on patches. The collection is now available on Levi.com, in certain Levi's stores, on Sanrio.com, and in select Sanrio stores.
