A Major Guo Pei Exhibition that was planned for 2022 at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco is finally here and opens for public on Apr 16, 2022.
Guo Pei: Couture Fantasy celebrates the extraordinary designs of Guo Pei—hailed as China's first couturier—and includes more than 80 works from the past two decades highlighting her most important collections shown on Beijing and Paris runways. It’s a project championed by the Fine Arts Museums’ director and CEO Thomas P. Campbell. “I am very interested in designers that blur the lines between fashion and art. Guo Pei’s creations are like artistic sculptural statements that draw inspiration from European architecture and reflect Chinese export art, and we were just delighted at the synergies in exhibiting her work in the neoclassical building at the Legion of Honor with its decorative arts collection,” he shared with Vogue back in 2021.

Guo Pei's fingers were acquainted with the intricacies of sewing as early as 2 years old and proceeded to cultivate a passion for fabrics and embroidery to new heights of fashion elegance.
In 1997, she conceived her brand and atelier, the Rose Studio where her inspirations continuously formed a union between the influences of her native Eastern culture. The merge between classical embroidery on the theater of fabric, shape, and texture with interplays between fairy tales and legends signify the creative impression that distinguishes her as an individual artisan. Her unique artistic direction in the world of fashion is recognized globally and she subsequently made a debut at the Paris Haute Couture in January 2016.
Today, that little girl whose flashing enthusiasm for sewing has brought her to a new elevation of vogue couture housed a contemporary studio on the prestigious Rue Saint Honoré in Paris.
