This win comes with history as 24-year old actress Zendaya takes the win for “Euphoria” and becomes the youngest Emmy winner for Lead Actress in Drama.
“ I appreciate you so much; you’re my family” Zendaya said to Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. She also thanked her family and team. “ I am so grateful for Rue. I am so grateful that you trusted me with your story. I know this feels like a really weird time to be celebrating, but I just want to say that there is hope in the young people out there. I know that our TV show doesn’t always feel like a great example of that, but there is hope in the young people. And I just want to say to all my peers out there doing the work in the streets, I see you, I admire you, I thank you.”
Zendaya was born in Oakland, California. She spent much of her youth spending time at California Shakespeare Theater. Before making it to the big screen fans knew her from her days as the Disney-Channel star.
Before becoming the Disney-Channel star Zendaya was a backup dancer for Selena Gomez in a Sears commercial.
