Occupation: Yoga teacher and studio owner
Instagram: @nancygoodfellow108
Personal background: Born and raised in sunny California, but have lived the other half of my life in Costa Rica.
Unique work: For me to get better at what I do, I believe I must "un-learn" all that I know so that the spirit and soul of my creative self can express itself more freely.
Why do you do what you do? Mainly because I absolutely can't imagine doing anything else…when you follow your passion and your heart, there is an undeniable knowing that you are doing exactly as you should.
What inspires you? Inspiration, like most things, ebbs and flows. I get inspired by simple, daily things that I make a point of noticing. If you are present inspiration can surge out of a stranger's smile, a child's laugh, a tree's intricate design, or your own body's amazing intelligence. I get inspired by the Truth, by Love, by spontaneous acts of kindness, and the fact that although we are all so diverse, we are actually completely the same.
Describe your personal style: I'm somewhat of a chameleon, having the need to continually transform myself I work to shed masks and pretenses so that the truest version of myself is shining. I teach daily classes in the same studio, but you'll never get the same exact practice from me.I ask students to step out of the box-of-the-mind and shake-off self-imposed limitations, while always remaining rooted to the tradition and science of yoga. (I just realized that maybe you meant 'personal fashion style')…so here is another answer you can choose from the two.
Living in the tropics on the beach limits ones options for dressing fashionably (or even dressing at all!) I live in my Liquido yoga pants and a tank top, and of course have a ton of bikinis. When I do get to travel to a city you'll always find me in skinny jeans, vibrant coloured blouse and BOOTS!
Your ultimate must-have: I live and breathe for music so I can't be without my favorite Spotify playlists and good headphones.
What superpower do you have and why: I love this question! In Yoga we speak of supernatural powers as a real possibility. I guess if I had to choose just one I'd have to pick the ability to teleport myself through time and space. I could sit and meditate with the ancient Rishis of the past, and then blast into the far future to see what amazing things us humans are creating.
What is next: Besides doing more travel and exploration abroad, I’ve just scheduled my next 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training here on the beach at Pranamar. This is going to be a 3 week journey into the heart and soul of our deepest desires and dreams, under the guidance of this ancient tradition.
In recent times, couture has shifted towards focusing on the venue, the guests and the models rather than showcasing the designers' creativity that should leave the audience in awe. Daniel Roseberry consistently stuns with his creative eye.
I know macro trends and the connection between macro trends and fashion. Feminism and multiculturalism are one of those macro trends which I demonstrate in my art.
I create fashionable, flattering characters with a little edge. I love drawing faces.
Drawing will never be a real work. When I draw I feel joyful, peaceful, a unique wellbeing, it is almost meditative. It gives me balance and harmony and I want to share all these beautiful energies throught my artworks.
The emotions I put in creating every artwork, it is very energetic and colorful, ugly and beautiful at the same time.
