Chanel hired first openly transgender model for a campaign. Teddy Quinlivan announced on Instagram Monday.

"My whole life has been a fight," she wrote on Instagram. "From being bullied at school consistently, kids threatening to kill me and going into graphic detail how they were going to do it, my own father beating me and calling me a fagot, to receiving industry blowback after speaking publicly about being sexually assaulted on the job... This was a victory that made all of that s*** worth it."

The 25-year-old walked runway shows for Chanel before coming out as transgender in 2017. She assumed she would no longer be able to work with the design house after coming out. "But here I am in Chanel Beauty Advertising," she wrote. "I am the first openly trans person to work for the house of Chanel, and I am deeply humbled and proud to represent my community."

This ”digital” obsession is ridiculous.

How do you like your meat, Sir? Rare and well done, please...
Would you ever make such a request at a restaurant?
Probably not. It's a nonsense, isn't it? So, why do you look for "young and experts" for C-level roles?
Is the fashion industry so blind to believe in an entire generation of Mark Zuckerbergs available in a click?
As a consultant I can increasingly see horror stories of youngsters at their very first steps of their career hired as directors and then burned down in one year of tenure.
Far too many. Companies are eager for youngsters because they suppose they better know their own generation habits and they are digital-native.
Is that enough to make a C-level executive? Very unlikely.
What is neglected too often in the recruitment process is the awareness of the level of responsibility of the role and the relative maturity needed to handle it. It's a pity to underestimate the Power of the Experience and a shame to create unrealistic expectations in young professionals who just need to grow with the right timing. It takes 10 years of training to become a Sushi Master.
As Hubert de Boüard of Château Angélus puts it: ‘A great wine is a film, not a snapshot.’ (Decanter) Same for top executives.

Lady Gaga shows Heidi Slimane's First Bag for Céline

Lady Gaga was spotted in Paris carrying Hedi Slimane's first handbag for Céline. Slimane is the creative and image director who replaced Phoebe Philo.

Images of Gaga at the Louvre Museum in Paris holding the black leather handbag were first spotted and posted to social media by fashion writer Pierre A. M'Pelé. Gaga's stylist Tom Eerebout confirmed to BoF that the new design was, in fact, by Slimane.

"He gifted her the bag and it's the first one from his new collection," said Eerebout, who has been part of Haus Of Gaga, the artist's creative team, since 2016. According to the stylist, the handbag will be presented as part of Slimane's first collection for Céline in September at Paris Fashion Week.

"Lady Gaga always supported Hedi at Saint Laurent," continued Eerebout, referring to Slimane's tenure at the Kering-owned house Yves Saint Laurent. "They're really close friends and they have been since he photographed her for 'The Fame Monster' album cover."
