3..2..1.. BLASTOFF CHANEL AUTUMN/WINTER 2017 READY TO WEAR
Chanel hosted its Fall/Winter 2017 ready-to-wear fashion show at the usual venue, the Grand Palais in Paris with an unusual setup. Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel is knowns for lately transforming the show into a data storage center, an airport, un supermarché. This time they decided to take their guests to the moon and back.
We refuse to be impressed unless it actually takes off. And it did. Approximatelly 50 feet tall rocket à la Chanel had a crane positioned in the middle to pull it up slowly imitating a blastoff. The lights and the smoke helped to create an illusion. Well done Karl, it even made Anna smile.
The show was a mix of ’60s, space and futurism. Space blankets, space boots with a toe cap, headbands (with perls, naturally) and rocket-ship bags. Among the guests were Cara Delevingne, Lottie Moss, Lily Allen, Vanessa Paradis, Lily-Rose Depp and Pharrell Williams.
At show’s end, Lagerfeld took his bow with 8-year-old model Hudson Kroenig right before taking that call from NASA.(presumably)
