The glamorous Starlite at Beacon Grand, nearly a century old, is finally back in San Francisco.

For nearly a century, the bar situated on the 21st floor of the Beacon Grand, formerly recognized as the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, boasted unparalleled views and hosted vibrant gatherings in San Francisco. Today, the iconic cocktail lounge, formerly celebrated as the Starlight Room, is undergoing a transformation into Starlite.

During the Prohibition era, this Union Square establishment was frequented by celebrities such as Allen Ginsberg and Herb Caen. From the early 1990s until 2011, a lot of San Francisco locals remember is as Harry Denton’s Starlight Room, a bustling nightlife. It briefly operated as Lizzie’s Starlight, which debuted in 2019 but sadly closed during the pandemic. The bar is now open as Starlite, with a renovated interior as well as a buzzy new cocktail menu from Trick Dog's Scott Baird and food from Michelin-starred D.C. chef Johnny Spero.
