Annie took time out of her schedule to speak to JOLIEGAZETTE about fashion, style, health and wellness.
How did the idea of creating a blog come about?
I started my blog in January of 2013 because I was seeing through my social media channels that people wanted to know more about me as a person. I was the face of our juice brand, but people wanted to connect beyond a product. What I was wearing, where I was going, what I was eating, and the products I was using on my hair, skin, and nails were all topics of curiosity and the uestions people were continually asking me. I created my blog as my own little orld to connect with, inspire, and share with my audience in a deeper way.
What is the meaning behind the name Blawnde?
My last name is spelled Lawless and I’m blonde, so I merged the two into "Blawnde”, which is really just an alternate spelling of the word “blonde”. I wanted to give a cheeky nod to the notion that people assume girls like me with fashion blogs who care about makeup and clothes are dumb blondes. On the flip side, I am a business person and an entrepreneur, and I pride myself on being very hardworking and savvy. I wanted my blog name to acknowledge the stereotype and play into it as my carefree little fashion space on the internet, but show that I can also be smart and driven as well. There are no rules and we don’t have to fit within the boxes people put us in.
What is a perfect formula between foods you put in your body and how you look and feel?
There is no “perfect” formula. Our bodies and needs change all the time. The most important thing to remember when selecting the foods you put into your body is to consume them in the most whole, unprocessed form possible. When you listen to your body and treat it with love and care, you want to nourish it with the highest quality foods that leave you energized and feeling good. Your meals will change with your life and your schedule, but always make the highest quality choice you possibly can, and your body will respond favorably with glowing, hydrated skin, bright eyes, and energy to do all of the things you love.
What are the no-nos you see people from the health and wellness industry do online?
I see a lot of judgment happening in the health and wellness industry among those with contrasting dietary and wellness philosophies. Some people can become very consumed with their beliefs on health that their minds close up to other ways of being. The internet has become an easy way for healthy, productive conversations to turn ugly and escalate to an unkind place. I have been vegan, vegetarian, raw, and now I eat a little bit of everything, so I understand many different dietary perspectives from my own personal experience. They all something wonderful and beneficial, so finding what’s right for you will look different than it does for others, and that’s ok. We are all evolving and changing throughout our lives and different things work for us and feel good at different times. There is no need to feel that one way of eating is superior to all others and berate people for their choices. We are all doing the best we can to be healthy and live our best lives.
What are your beauty and health tips while traveling?
My biggest tip is to stay hydrated! This is such an underrated concept, but we really get dehydrated when we fly and run around more than usual. My other important tip is to enjoy yourself and try not to stress so hard about being perfect. If you want pasta or gelato in Italy or a margarita in Cabo, let yourself indulge a little bit without beating yourself up. You will be back to your normal routine soon enough and it is good for the mind and our health goals to loosen the reins from time to time. The key to indulging safely is to treat your diet like a bank account and know you have a little extra in the bank while traveling, but spend it wisely and don’t overspend. Try the pasta OR gelato, not both in the same day. Have ONE margarita, not four. If you keep yourself in control while making smart indulgences, your waistline won’t suffer and you will come home from traveling
feeling great.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Salty, greasy anything! Always and forever. I don’t have a sweet tooth at all, but a bag of salty chips or greasy Mexican food is not safe around me.
What is your style philosophy?
Keep it simple and invest in the classic, timeless basics. I would rather save up for a few beautiful, well made, designer pieces a year than buy a bunch of cheap crap I will be done with after a couple wears. Having a few key items like a classic flap Chanel bag, a black or nude patent Louboutin pump, a great fitting pair of skinny jeans, and a cashmere sweater will stand the test of time and work
for so many different looks and occasions.
What inspires you?
Life! Everyday when I wake up, I am inspired to make that day the best yet. Life is so short, so spending my time doing things I truly love each and every day with people I love is what inspires me to do everything I do.
What is next for Annie Lawless and Blawnde?
You will have to wait and see! I might have a couple ideas up my sleeve…

Gorgeous designs with some extra oomph
The story of 2015 will be remembered as a wild one. We’ll tell future generations it was the year Givenchy came to NY, the year of the first U.S. Men’s Fashion Week and the year Donna Karan took a bow goodbye. Accompanying the highs and lows are the trends that altered the masses. Below are the styles we loved and want to see in 2016 followed by ones that should be left behind with the New Year.
What Should Stay…
Korean Skin Products American retailers and consumers have welcomed the Korean beauty market and it appears that they are here to stay. The most well adopted products are from their skin care lines, such as the charcoal masks that went viral on YouTube for peeling off black heads after minutes of use.
Dark 90’s Lips
Marc Jacobs among other designers gave us 90’s grunge feels when he dressed his models in lips of deep plums and browns.
Strobbing
By definition a strobbing technique adds layers of highlights the skin, creating a dewy look. A shift from the matte complexions that have exhausted our Instagram and YouTube feeds.
What Needs To Go…
Obnoxious Hair Colors - The florescent hair colors have to go, it’s been seen on pop stars, bloggers and rebellious teens alike. Bright hues are out, emerging is faint pastels try taking the hues down several notches with your next dye.
Contouring To The Extreme
Highlight here, darken there now blend, blend, blend. The days of contour sculpting are over and we couldn’t be happier. In the year consider trading out your contour kits with a highlighter and try strobbing instead.

RESULTS: Rebuilt from within, the skin around the eye is visibly denser and more toned.

In today’s society “starve yourself to death” should be on the cover of those high-class, glossy magazines presenting an excessively pouty model who could fit into an average size persons jeans twice over. “Our secret to the perfect bikini body!” We flip the pages of goddesses to find that yes, we too can have the perfect summer body…if we drop 100 pounds and get a face transplant…
Corsets and girdles wrapped around bodies, nipping and tucking away the features we hate most- "love handles." The eventual red mark is left for hours to remind of the pain we just put the body through. Our make-up has slowly started to become a crutch. My best friend once said to me that made me ponder and lose hope.
"You must be pretty special if I am letting you see me without an eyeliner."
We put in lashes, string and wax our eyebrows, we use hair extensions. What once was natural is now soft makeup and hair ironed at over 200+ degrees. We, as a society, have lost ourselves.
The world is changing and so are our standards, there is not one preference. 34" chest, 24" waist, 34" hips are not the standard sizes. A little more volume can attract just as much attention today.
It is not impossible to fall in love with your flaws. Our bodies are beautiful!
The object sends our eyes on a mission to wander and find something that we don't find so alluring about ourselves. That object is the your mirror. Mirror may be yourbest friend oryour worst enemy. You alone is the decision maker.
Let go of "model standards" and just take a day to ditch the pounds of accessories. Maybe, just maybe it will become the day you fall in love with what God gave you.

Make up never is complete without mascara. If you're lucky enough and you have long lashes, you only need a good mascara. But for many of us with very little lashes or very short lashes we need an enhancer. MAC has been known for being the number 1 place for lashes until recently Nars Cosmetics "lashed out". The makeup brand debuted its range of false eyelashes “ready to wear and ready to stare” as of May 1st, designed by Francois Nars himself. Each set is made from natural fibers and are, thankfully , 100% reusable.

Red lipstick has been used by women for decades as a means of attracting attention. But did you know that Red Lipstick in fact more than anything else is about female strength ? Yes, it wasn't always socially accepted and back then women wearing red lipstick were seen as vulgar and easy. "The first and most famous manifestation of red lipstick was in fact in New York when the suffragettes took to the streets, banded together, and as part of their defiance and fight for the vote, they all wore bright red lipstick," explains Madeleine Marsh, author of "Compacts and Cosmetics," During the war women wore red lipstick as part of the fight against enemy. How about it?
But not everyone liked red lipstick. French fashion designer Coco Chanel found it along with red nail polish vulgar, complaining that house guests left stains on her glassware and table linens. With time however, red lips became a fashionable and stylish tool for 21 century’s Fashionistas. Wearing red lipstick really does make women feel more confident, powerful and gorgeous. Carrying your red lips alongside denim short and a tee makes a playful combination don't you agree?

If you are a fan of liquid foundation, you absolutely have to try Marc Jacobs Marvelous Mousse Foundation. As I was walking by Sephora store at Stanford Palo Alto I suddenly remembered that I had buy a foundation to cover blemishes I recently got. I am not a big fan of foundation or powder, I prefer not to apply anything to my face except for mascara and a little bit of lip gloss. But my face was in such condition that I had to find a temporary solution to hide it.
As I walked into the store, I saw a new line by Marc Jacobs. I love Marc's clothing and did try his lipstick in the past and loved it. I asked an associate to test Marvelous Mousse. In my mind I was ready for a heavy and dry foundation that most likely will smudge as the day goes by or mix with everyday sweat and worsen the look of my PMS blemishes. I was very much surprised as I was applying the foundation. Despite the fact that it felt so light, the coverage it did for my blemishes was outstanding. I also found that it is OK to use under the eyes to cover dark circles or to freshen up the look. It doesn't highlight the wrinkles like other foundation does. It's a great buy!

Brows are still having something of a moment. Not a day goes by that we hear of amazing brows on celebrities and brows too have a history. Let's dive into Ancient Egypt where Queen Nefertiti sported arched brows darkened with powders made of minerals. During The Middle Ages, forehead was the most important feature which is why women often removed eyebrows and eyelashes. During 1920-1930 women sported extremely thin and straight eyebrows. In 1970 - 1980 various shapes of eyebrows were favored, including thicker and more natural brows. Today it is Cara Delevingne's brows that dominate the catwalk. Here are the best thick brows celebrities.
