Summer ‘15 Cover-Up Trends
When it comes to summer, I think of three things: a beach, a swimsuit, and an adorable cover up. There’s nothing quite like finding the newest way to modestly conceal my favorite swimsuits (as well as my pale white skin) for all of the moments spent outside of the water. We of course have the classics, like a good sun hat or the adorable summer dress. This year we are also seeing a lot of tunics and crocheted pieced to keep you cool and covered. And we must not forget, perhaps the most important finishing touch to any worthwhile beach outfit, the sunnies. To help guide you through the (hopefully) long, hot summer, I’ve compiled a few looks for you to try out on your vacay days.
Keep it simple with a one-piece and throw a loose-fittiing shirt over the top for a cute and quick fix.
If this doesn’t get you to want to buy a tunic, I don’t know what will.
The Kimono provides another adorable quick fix for just about any swimsuit.
One of my favorite trends of the summer is the palazzo pant. Throw it over any suit maybe top the outfit off with a wide-brimmed hat and you’ve got yourself an adorable beach look.
Another favorite trend: shortalls. The styling is pretty straightforward for these guys; just throw them on and go.

Bohemian Home Trend
It’s no secret that the world of fashion has been seeing an influx of the bohemian trend lately, but could this trend be seeping into the world of interior design? It seems as though people have been not only dressing themselves in things that seem straight out of the 60’s, but surrounding themselves with them too. I think the only question now is whether the fad is, in fact, just a fad (and therefore a total waste of home-decorating money). However, fad or not, there is no denying the liberating beauty that bohemian styled homes offer their occupants. This just may be a design risk worth taking.

Marina and the Diamonds, Lana Del Rey, and Charli XCX: A New Wave of Pop Star Style
In the last couple years, the public was introduced to a new kind of pop star.
First to come out was Marina and the Diamonds who rose to prominence with her debut album and its single, "Obsessions". She became more popular with her second album, Electra Heart. It was a concept album about female identity and a heartbreak. It leaded by the popularity of its lead single, “Primadonna”. She has recently released her third album, Froot. Around this time, Elizabeth Woolridge Grant aka Lana Del Rey also rose to prominence. She released her second studio album Born to Die. It was met with mixed reception, but became a commercial success and she had her own face of controversy with the media. She then released an extended play album that met critical success. She is now on tour for her new album, Ultraviolence and set to release a new album in the fall. The newest pop star out of these three would be Charli XCX. You probably know her from hits such as Icona Pop, “I Love It”. But she did not become popular until last year when her song, “Boom Clap”, made part of The Fault In Our Stars soundtrack. She has released her third album, Sucker.
These artists are at the height of their popularity, thus huge style influencers among young women today.
Marina and the Diamonds
Marina and the Diamonds is all about electric and retro which reminisce of the crazy 80’s. She loves neon in her color palette. She has described her style as being vintage, cartoon, cheerleader and cited Gwen Stefani (who is known for lack of fear of color in her clothes and Sophia Loren who is known for her classic choices) as two of her fashion inspirations. Marina shows the same lack of fear. She uses different types of colors with her clothes that might not necessarily work for anyone, but it fits her perfectly. While Marina is known for her crazy style, she has worn clothes that reflect in the era of the 1950’s as Sophia Loren.
How influential is she on demographic:
Her color palette of neon is the color trend for this season. It also fits into the seasons of Spring and Summer. During Fashion Week, a lot of designers used a lighter color palette with such colors as baby blue, pink, and yellow. The color trend for the summer is neon. Marina and the Diamonds has shown to not only wear these colors but she has incorporated these colors together.
Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey, a self-proclaimed “Gangster Nancy Sinatra”. She has her own style which reminds us of past decades. Think Mad Men. Her hair is always done in a vintage style: beehives, long 40s-esque waves, or middle-parted 70s straight style. Whether she wears her demure, classy 60’s-inspired dresses, 70’s style sweaters and skinny jeans or her authentic 80s bad girl looks she pulls it off perfectly. Her color palette is more on a soft side due to her many different inspirations. She wears white, light blue, and yellow. But she is not a stranger to brighter colors as well. such as turquoise, fuchsia, and purple.
How influential is she on demographic:
Lana Del Rey is no stranger to wearing trends from the past and vintage style has been a trend in recent years. In fact, the trend for this summer is 1970’s style. Lana is the one who made this style cool again and expendable for a younger demographic.
Charli XCX
Charli XCX has a unique style that differs from the other artists on this list. She uses influences from the 1990’s , from the Spice Girls to Wednesday Addams. Her style has a unique blend of grunge and early hip-hop. She would describe her own style as “grunge princess with a magical cyber angel twist.” Her fashion icon is Fairuza Balk in the movie, The Craft. She also finds inspiration from fashion photographers such as David La Chapelle and Pierre et Gilles. Fashion actually inspires her music. Her color palette varies from bright to dark colors. Her style can be summarized by this imagery: if a Spice girl (Sporty Spice or Baby Spice) wondered into the Addams Family’s mansion, and raided Wednesday’s clothes.
How influential is she on demographic:
Charli XCX is the closest in age with her demographic, so naturally she knows how to dress like them. In the last couple years, 1990’s nostalgia has become popular. In her music videos, she wears a lot trends that were popular during this era such as crop sweaters, and velvet skirts. For these reasons, she made these items popular again.

JimmyTheDog collaborates with Jimmy Choo
South America has it's own four legged fashionisto and his name is Jimmy Choo. Yes, Jimmy Choo. Mantesso has always been close to man’s best friend, so when he and his wife split, they decided he would get Jimmy Choo. The dog was one good thing to come out of the rough divorce. “He is the best partner ever,” Mantesso said. “He is definitely my best friend and companion.” Mantesso started to shoot photos of Jimmy in his deserted house. “One day I was playing with him in the room and decided to make this picture, holding his hand [while showing the] affection and friendship that existed there,” the artist told TODAY.com. He began posting photos of Jimmy Choo the dog to his Instagram account and it became a hit. Sandra Choi discovered Raphael and his dog soon after and invited to collaborate for Jimmy Choo accessories collection. The collection that will be out on May 15th will include handbags of all sizes, iPhone cases and dog collars.

Olivia Palermo Proves Once again she can do no wrong in Fashion
Not everyone can pull off an old-fashioned gown. 29-year-old socialite Olivia Palermo looked stunning in her vintage inspired dress for New York City Ballet 2015 Spring Gala. Although her ornate chiffon dress embellished with floral designs hid her miniature form, she posed perfectly in that gown. And she chose to go with a natural make up. Great choice for the dress.

London. Hats. Portobello.
To say that I love London is a slight understatement, and definitely not a secret. I adore London, I love its mysterious streets with mixtures of powerful skyscrapers and little pink or blue houses. I love the way people dress, speak, look and think in Britain. I have been living in London for the past three years and the city has cardinally changed me. One of the fashion changes I experienced while living in London is learning to wear hats. I 'd like to talk about Hats! Yes, hats: big, small, bright or not, textured, plain, branded, vintage, you name it.
My first ever hat purchase happened at Portobello market in London. A lovely blue hat which made me feel simply confident and beautiful. I put it on right away and felt so stylish and edgy. Ever since then I can safely be called a "Hatcoholic" (did I just make this up? :) . I wear them almost every day. I match them with jeans, dresses, skirts, shorts, swimsuits and even the evening dresses. Why not?
A few days ago I came to my office in Moscow right on the corner of Tverskaya street. As soon as I walked inside, our PR Director saw me. "Oh my God, I love your hat! ", she said. "I have so many hats but I do not really know how to wear them so I never put them on", she continued.
For someone like me, a "hatcoholic", it was unusual to hear. Don't put too much thought to wearing a hat. Mix hats with every single type of clothing just like i do it. Don't be surprised if one day you'll see me wearing a glamorous hat in a combination with a sport suit :). Don't be afraid experimenting. Be yourself! Express your inner world through mixing textures, colors, styles and yes, Hats!
Now go back to my FIRST DATE suggestions? Remember that simple tee and jeans look with Valentino heels and LV bag? Now, you can get rid off the last two and put a hat on. Your tee and jeans look will again look modern, stylish and trendy and this time thanks to the Hat!

Disovering IRO Paris
Just recently I discovered IRO Paris after walking into a designer discount store. I found a pair of super cool trousers and a tank top. Went home happy.
I later saw the brand at Neiman Marcus San Francisco store and ever since then it's a love match. I did a little research on the brand and found that IRO Paris originally launched in 2004 by two Parisian brothers, Laurent and Arik Bitton. The brand is a favorite for celebrities like Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, and Ginnifer Goodwin. Besides the website www.iroparis.com, you can find IRO pieces at Net-a-Porter, TheOutnet, Shopbop, Polyvore and more. Few of our favorites below. Click photo to shop.

"Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the women who is wearing it" ~ Yves Saint Laurent
A strong and mostly importantly true statement delivered by none other than the king of Le Smoking, Yves Saint Laurent. Wise words for women everywhere to note. An influential European fashion designer who impacted fashion in the 1960s to the present day. Born on August 1, 1936 in Oran, Algeria, Yves Saint Laurent as a teen left for Paris to work for designer Christian Dior and immediately gained popularity for his dress designs. In 1966, he launched his own fashion labels with his signature tuxedos for women that gained him more fame. The label he shared with his lover Pierre Berge. It was a tumultuous, passionate, complex, decadent, drug-laced love story. The Designer died in Paris on June 1, 2008 from brain cancer but Pierre Berge continues the line and legacy. We share the story today in honor of "Saint Laurent" movie screening taking place during San Francisco Film Festival this month. Don't forget to purchase tickets before it is sold out SFFS It is said Pierre Berge was an adviser on the film.
