Tom Ford returns to New York
Tom Ford is set to return to the city he launched his line in six years ago, New York! The presentation will take place on February 18th, 2016 during New York Fashion Week.
“When I began my own company I wanted to create clothes with the highest level of workmanship and attention to detail. Pieces that a customer would keep for life,” said Ford today in a statement. “This is one of the reasons that i launched by women’s collections in a small presentation in New York, where the audience could experience the clothes up close. In previous seasons I have presented the collections in my London showroom to the press in an informal format that allows me to speak with journalists while they view and touch the clothes. As we all know, the way in which we show clothes, not only to the press, but also to the consumer is changing. Right now, I think that a certain fluidity is necessary in regards to how we communicate with the consumer, and I have experimented with different formats recently. The most important thing to me with a presentation is that it communicates the message of the season and the point of view of the collection. Next season, it feels right to return to a format that is intimates and shows the detail of the clothes. The intimacy of small presentations affords that. We launched our first women’s collection in New York in 2010 and opened our first store there in 2007. I am very excited to present both collections in New York.”

Mariuccia Mandelli dies at the age of 90
Mariuccia Mandelli, known by her artistic name as Krizia died on Sunday at the age of 90. She was one of Italy’s first ready-to-wear brands that helped build the country’s global fashion identity. Mariuccia was born in Bergamo. She carried passion for fashion ever since the young age. Krizia studies in Switzerland and became an elementary school teacher at first but left teaching to open a laboratory in Milan with partner Flora Dolci where she began producing skirts and dresses. Krizia had her first independent fashion show in the prestigious Palazzo Pitti, won the Critics fashion Award, previously assigned, only to Emilio Pucci. Her debut was outstanding and soher name circulates in the mouth of all the experts in the world of fashion.
“It’s difficult to imagine Milan without Mariuccia Mandelli, who was among the great protagonists of the transformation of this city into capital of fashion,” said Giorgio Armani.
Karl Lagerfeld designed ready-to-wear for Krizia from 1964 to 1970.
“She was the Miuccia Prada of the Sixties and early Seventies: Very funny – nearly “folle” – but a very pleasant way to be mad,” Lagerfeld said.
Alber Elbaz remembers Mandelli as one of Italy's top designers in the Eighties.

Edith Piafs' "Hymne A L'Amour" performed by Celine Dion at American Music Awards did not leave a dry eye in the room on Sunday night. It was perhaps the most meaningful performance of the night remembering the victims of the recent attacks in Paris where 129 people lost their lives and left approximately 350 injured. The singer was accompanied by string orchestra with beautiful images of Paris and its people.
