Saint Laurent purchased vintage YSL collection
These are the archives of Saint Laurent Rive Gauche
Anthony Vaccarello, creative director of Saint Laurent, acquired the vintage YSL collection from designer Olivier Chatenet. The collection consists of four thousand items created from 1966 to 1985. The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
The collection consists mainly of Saint Laurent Rive Gauche ready-to-wear garments, including coats, dresses, suits, blouses, knitwear, bags, shoes, jewelry, scarves and some haute couture outfits. The collection includes a 1967 African-style beaded gown previously owned by the Duchess of Windsor. The items will be housed in the existing Saint Laurent archive located at the brand's headquarters in Paris.
“I love that my collection will live its life and be useful. I have had a lot of fun over the past 30 years, putting it together and showing it at exhibitions in Paris, Hong Kong and Shanghai. I still love it, even if it is more to me does not belong, "commented Olivier Chatenet. The designer noted that he absolutely trusts the house of Saint Laurent and Anthony Vaccarello: "They have complete freedom to save and use the collection as they please."
