Paris notes: The Vetements Street Style Obsession

After every fashion season there is always one item that pops up on every fashionista, blogger, celebrity or a major style star. This season it is Vêtements denim led by Demna Gvasalia. Vetements was founded by seven graduates of Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts who came together while working at Maison Margiela, Vetements burst onto the scene with an approach that deconstructs the familiar and reassembles it in ways that challenge conventions of clothing and of fashion itself.  While in Paris we spotted them on literally everyone.

“I’m driven by making fashion that has a place in the real world,” says the Georgian designer Gvasalia, who in October 2015 was named artistic director or Balenciaga. “The attitude is in the clothes themselves.”
