The worlds of art and fashion often collide, from Elsa Schiaparelli’s collaborations with Salvador Dalí to Louis Vuitton with The Chapman Brothers and Prada with Elmgreen + Dragset. Fashion and dance have had a love affair since the beginning of time.
To celebrate designer Tokyo Gamine and San Francisco Ballet dancer Mathilde Froustey Danseuse, Pia Øien Cohler (owner of PIA store, one of the hottest retail destinations in San Francisco) and celebrity stylist Mary Gonsalves Kinney put the two together in a creative fashion performance of Alice in Wonderland.
The white space at 414 Jackson Square was filled with the most fashionable crowd and for a moment turned into a stage.
San Francisco Ballet principal dancer Mathilde Froustey, five San Francisco Ballet dancers and Look Model Agency models, perfectly transformed pieces from Tokyo Gamine collection into the costumes for three acts of “Alice and Wonderland”. Here are fantastic dance episodes and more as captured by Drew Altizer Photography.
PIA boutique carries pieces from over 50 international collections including Giambattista Valli, David Koma, Zac Posen, and Nina Ricci and a home to notables like Nicole Systrom and Priscilla Zuckerberg (wives to Instagram and Facebook founders, respectively), Sabrina Buell, Yves Behar, and Ali Pincus.
