Mame Kurogouchi Tokyo Fall 2020

Mame Kurogouchi is a ready-to-wear women’s brand based in Japan.
Founded by designer Maiko Kurogouchi, the collections embody femininity and boldness, timeless design and traditional savoir-faire, urban life and exuberance of nature - the cross pollinations and juxtaposition of them all.
The garments reflect the designer’s personal memory and experience gained through travels. The original textiles and the fine fabrics are assembled by the best manufacturers and artisans across the country.
The brand’s thoroughly contemporary outputs have been showcased in various places and forms; Centre Pompidou Metz in Paris, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo and collaboration projects with prestigious names such as photographer Vasantha Yogananthan, Nobuyoshi Araki, Takashi Homma, Julia Hetta and subcultural purveyor Hiroshi Fujiwara to name a few. And most recently the brand collaborated with Italian luxury house Tod's to create a capsule collection for their T Factory project.
Drawing on a constellation of diverse elements - memory, identity, artifacts, architecture and literature, Mame Kurogouchi ultimately presents a profound inquiry into the nature of woman.
