GOSHA RUBCHINSKY GOES TO ST.PETERSBURG
You may have heard his name here and there in fashion community. Gosha Rubchinsky is the man who made Russian fashion cool. He is a Russian fashion designer and photographer and the founder of his namesake brand Gosha Rubchinskiy (ГОША РУБЧИНСКИЙ).
His designs are all about gently oversized utility jackets, high-waist jeans tied with shoelaces. Rubchinsky and Georgian/Parisian label Vetements, are the hottest designers in menswear. Gosh'a collections almost always sold out.
Gosha Rubchinsky is a slave to nostalgia and often dresses as 1990 Muscovite. His line of red T-shirts with hammer and sickle logos sold out instantly. He was the first with an idea of bringing streetstyle to runways.
His Spring 2018 Gosha is taking to St.Petersburg, second largest city in Russia with outstanding architecture and history.
Remember the infamous DHL T-shirt? That was Gosha. Rubchinskiy opened the Vetements SS16 show wearing that shirt. In fact, Demna Gvasalia, Gosha Rubchinsky and stylist Lotta Volkova (who styles both Demna's and Gosha's shows) are good friends.
You would ask , why are they bringing this street image to runways. When USSR collapsed, there was absolutely no access to available fashion. We knew about the brands, about logos, but none of us could get it. We were isolated from it.
We're excited to see what's coming to stores from Gosha Rubchinsky next!
